Malaria is a communicable disease caused due to the bite of the female Anopheles mosquito that injects parasites into our bloodstream. Malaria is reported to have badly affect 300 to 500 million people every year and causes over 1 million deaths. Due to Malaria a person gets a high fever, shivering, joint pain, anemia and vomiting. If malaria is not treated on time, it will end up in severe medical complications and even lead to death. Unfortunately, we do not have vaccines to treat malaria although its being researched and developed for testing.


Preventing malaria is the only treatment for malaria. A few countries have a high risk of infectivity than others countries. There is no threat of malaria in Northern America and Western Europe. Rest of countries has varying degrees of risk. If you’re traveling to a high risk area, it is advisable to seek out consultation with a physician to get preventative medications. Using insect repellants and mosquito netting is highly recommended to reduce risk of getting malaria. As the mosquitoes have a high rate of reproduction and they become immune to medications very fast, consult a physician before using any oral medications.
